Top Tips to speed up your recruitment process
Despite the current economic climate, we are still finding that it is a candidate market. So, it is still extremely important to have a swift recruitment process to ensure you don’t lose any prospective employees.
Organise your diary
Before you start a recruitment drive, make sure that you keep organised. Plan how long you will run the advert and pencil in regular interview dates, so should you find a candidate that you would like to meet – they won’t have to wait too long for an initial interview.
Limit the number of interviews
Ideally, you would offer no more than two interviews as part of your recruitment process. The longer the process from the initial call to an offer of employment, the more opportunity your candidate has to pursue other vacancies or be approached. Two interviews enable you to see different aspects of a candidate along with being able to swap people that you have on the interview panel for additional insight and opinion.
Be clear on the vacancy
It may sound obvious, but make sure that you are clear about the vacancy that needs filling. If you are unsure of aspects of the role or if it is subject to change, this will cause delays while you iron out the requirements or may put off candidates if the goalposts of the position change. It will also be really difficult to know when you have interviewed the right person if you don’t know exactly what job they need to do!
Hire a recruitment specialist
One of the biggest benefits of hiring a recruitment specialist is that it will save you time – they will screen CVs, make initial phone calls and manage your diary for interviews. This will save you from having to conduct your usual daily tasks alongside everything involved with recruiting a new team member.
